Goodstart Maps is an interactive project created to allow users to explore the world in a visual, curious, and educational way.
The idea behind the project is to turn a map into a gateway to content about countries, cultures, languages, travel, curiosities, and global topics. Instead of presenting content only through lists, articles, or traditional pages, users can navigate the world, click on countries, and discover information in a freer and more engaging way.
The project is currently on the back burner. Its initial exploration, however, influenced Geogram and evolved directly into the Copa 2026 Goodstart editorial experiment.
Goodstart Maps was designed as an interactive map-based experience, with country-based navigation and the possibility of gradually expanding its content.
The main planned elements include:
In this project, I worked on the concept of the experience, the interface structure, and the initial implementation of the interactive map.
The work involves thinking not only about the technical side of the map, but also about the role this experience plays within the Goodstart brand. The goal is not to create a generic map, but a discovery tool that helps users explore the world in a way connected to English learning, international culture, and global curiosity.
This requires decisions about navigation, interaction, content organization, visual states, responsiveness, and future growth possibilities.
The prototype was structured with React, Vite, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Firebase, and MapLibre GL, with a focus on interactivity, performance, and rapid experimentation.
The choice of a lightweight web architecture makes it easier to publish new versions, test interactions, and integrate future editorial or educational content from Goodstart.
The project prioritizes:
Goodstart Maps is not finished and is not under active development, but it has already played an important role as a laboratory for exploring map-based products.
The project expands the brand experience beyond courses and articles, creating an environment where users can actively explore the world. It reinforces the idea that English is not just a subject, but a tool to access cultures, stories, places, and opportunities.
If revisited, the concept could evolve into an interactive cultural guide featuring shops, iconic landmarks, and local references from important cities around the world.
